The live preview
The right-hand side of the Studio shows your site, live. Here's how to make the most of it.
The preview panel isn't a screenshot or a mock — it's your actual site, fully functional, running on the internet. You can click links, fill in forms, scroll, zoom. Everything works the way it will after you publish.
What's in the preview#
At the top of the preview you'll see:
- Desktop / Tablet / Phone buttons — click any of them to change the size of the preview
- A green dot and a URL — this is your site's temporary address. You can click it to open your site in a new tab or share it with someone.
- A reload button — in case you want to force a refresh
- An open-in-new-tab icon — opens the full preview in its own browser window
Looking at different screen sizes#
Websites look different on a laptop and on a phone. One of the most useful things you can do in Wemob is click through the three size buttons to make sure your site looks good on all of them.
- Desktop — wide, for laptops and desktop monitors
- Tablet — medium, for iPads and similar
- Phone — narrow, for iPhones and Android phones
If something looks wrong on one size, ask Wemob to fix it: “the hero is too big on phone, make it tighter.”
Sharing the preview URL#
Click the URL at the top of the preview to copy it. You can send this link to anyone — a client, a friend, your own phone — and they'll see exactly what you see, in real time. No need to publish first.
The first load is slow#
The first time you open a new project, the preview takes twenty to sixty seconds to appear. Wemob has to get your project set up and running. Subsequent changes are instantaneous — the preview updates the moment Wemob finishes writing a file.
If you close a project and come back much later, the first load will be slow again because the project had to shut down while you were away.
When something looks wrong#
If the preview is blank, showing an error, or not updating, here are the things to try, in order:
- Wait a few seconds and hit the reload button. Most “the preview is broken” moments fix themselves.
- Click the logs icon (the small terminal) at the top of the preview. If there's an error, you'll see it there — and you can copy the text into the chat to ask Wemob to fix it.
- Ask Wemob directly in the chat: “the preview is showing an error, can you fix it?” Wemob will usually resolve it on the next turn.
- Roll back to the previous version if you just made a change that broke things. See Undoing changes.
